International Council of Museums (ICOM) Membership 2026

Application period: 27 October – 7 December 2025

          The International Council of Museums (ICOM) welcomes applications for membership from institutions, museums, and individuals working in the museum profession. Applications must be submitted through the National Committee of the applicant’s country or directly to the ICOM Secretariat.

Membership is based on the calendar year, from 1 January to 31 December of each year.


Types of Membership

1. Individual Members – Working
Professionals currently working in museums or related fields such as archaeology, art history, or conservation. This includes curators, museum officers, and related practitioners.

2. Individual Members – Retired
Individuals who have retired from professional practice in museums, archaeology, art history, or conservation, and who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Have worked primarily in these fields throughout their career;
  • Have worked in these fields during the later years of their career prior to retirement;
  • Are currently retired but continue to volunteer regularly in the museum sector.

3. Institutional Members
Museums or other institutions that meet the definition of a “museum” as stated in the ICOM Statutes.

4. Student Members
Students currently enrolled in an academic program related to museum studies, museology, archaeology, art history, or conservation at a university in Thailand. Applicants must provide proof of current enrollment in a relevant field of study for the current academic year.

          Applicants who are approved for new or renewed ICOM membership for the year 2026 will be contacted by staff via email with payment instructions. Please ensure that you check your email regularly. The member shall be responsible for any international transfer fees. The Committee will inform the member of the applicable fee rate prior to the transfer.

Note:

          Membership status and term may be revoked or suspended if a member’s professional status changes, if they violate the ICOM Code of Ethics, engage in activities contrary to the ICOM Statutes, or fail to pay the annual membership fee after receiving a payment reminder.

All individual, institutional, and student members are required to pay the annual membership fee as determined by the ICOM Thailand Committee and approved by the General Assembly each year. Committee is responsible for forwarding membership fees to the ICOM.
