The Fine Arts Department, through the Office of National Museums, in collaboration with Mahidol University, organized an educational visit to museums and learning resources in the Salaya–Phutthamonthon area on 19 September 2026 as part of Thai Museum Day under the theme “Thai Museums: The Bridges Uniting the World.”

The activity aimed to promote the role of museums and learning resources in creating opportunities for equal access to knowledge, connecting people and communities, and supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.

The program featured a discussion on “The Role of Learning Resources in Reducing Educational Inequality,” followed by visits to a number of learning resources within the Mahidol University network and surrounding communities.

The participating museums and learning resources included:

  • Mahidol University Archives and Museum, featuring the special exhibition “Light of Wisdom.”
  • Museum of Cultural Anthropology and Mobile Ethnographic Exhibition, featuring the special exhibition “Taste of Silent.”
  • Sireeruckhachati Nature Learning Park, recognized as a model for promoting Health and Well-Being through learning about medicinal plants and biodiversity.
  • Thai Film Archive, a learning center dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Thailand’s cinematic heritage.
  • Natural Resources and Community Water Management Museum under the Royal Initiative of King Rama IX, where participants learned about agricultural ways of life and the application of the King’s philosophy and knowledge to community development.
  • Mahasawat House Museum, which preserves archival materials documenting the traditional way of life of communities along the Mahasawat Canal.

The activity was organized in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the direction promoted by the International Council of Museums (ICOM). It highlights the important role of educational institutions, museums, and learning resources as accessible spaces for knowledge and lifelong learning.

Through such initiatives, museums and learning resources can contribute to reducing inequalities, expanding access to knowledge for all, strengthening connections among people and communities, and supporting the continued development of a more inclusive and sustainable society.
